Populistiska partier lyckas ibland att ta mandat på grund av att väljarna är mähän som saknar egen vilja. Dessa mähän röstar på vad som ser bäst ut för stunden och tänker inte på vilka konsekvenser deras val av parti kan medföra.
Ny Demokrati är ett bra exempel på ett populistiskt parti som lyckades komma in i riksdagen. Det försvann lika fort valet därpå.
